Dam Control

Did you know that Bear Pond’s water levels are controlled by a Dam?
Did you know that the Dam is controlled by volunteers of the BPIA?
Did you know that without these volunteers, Bear Pond’s uncontrolled water levels could greatly impact the surrounding watershed?

Next time you cross over the Bean Street bridge at the Dam, remember the BPIA Volunteers that have done and continue to do an excellent job in insuring that the dam is holding back water for our enjoyment and releasing water during times of heavy rain and snow melt ensuring our homes and the watershed remain safe.  How can I help?

BPIA Volunteers maintain and operate the outlet (the Dam) and the water level of Bear Pond, as required by the State of Maine.
